It's a very simple calculation: Add your birthday month to your birthday day and add to the present year. Add those numbers from left to right and the total will tell you your Tarot Year Card. Mine is 10+25=35+2009=2044+2+4+4=10
This is the 10th card of the Tarot deck and this is the second time I've knowingly recorded and experienced my year using the Tarot card as a guide. I like the consideration of an ancient tool used to inform in a modern setting. The year 2000 was quite a year for me, low lows and wonderful highs.
This piece was created in the year 2000 and is mixed media collage, acrylic, pencil , stencil and wood stain on paper. It measures 21"x 21".
According to Mary K. Greer, "With The Wheel of Fortune as your Year Card, you have come to another turning point. From your past experience, you bring seeds for a new direction, but also burdens and obligations. The wheel is the equilibrium of contrary forces, irreversibly set in motion. All in all, this is a fortunate year, in which experience gained as the wheel turns now helps you focus on your new direction."
For me this year is just beginning...so far the lows have been related to stocks and appreciation on my home. Interestingly Pablo and I do not share the same birthday but we share our birthday day and month TOTALS which keep us in the experience of the same year card!
For all of you who share this year as their Wheel of Fortune Year...enjoy the ride!
Interesting. I got 11 but dont have a tarot deck with me. Love your collage.
ReplyDeleteSuki, Interesting...quote by M.K.Greer" The Justice Year (11) heralds a new beginning, with decisions to be made after assessing the pros and cons of various proposals. It is also a year of adjustment.
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. I got 5. Not sure what that means.
ReplyDeleteJean
Interesting!
ReplyDeleteMine ended up 7.
Is this good?
:-D
A super collage Bluesky, as they always are!
Jean, It is your Hierophant Year. People go back to school, complete a corse of study, or receive or give training or give or receive counseling. It is a year of speaking from the heart according to M.K.Greer.
ReplyDeleteBabs, It is your Chariot Year. In the Chariot Year you act and move ahead on the decisions made in the year before. The Chariot Year focuses on goals!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous painting. And I enjoyed the tarot reflections. I got 6. The meaning please...
ReplyDeleteSan, You are in the Lovers Year! The focus is on relationships. An old title for this card is "The Two Paths" reminding that a Lovers Year is a year of choices and often involves a major turning point in your ten-year cycle...according to M.K. Greer!
ReplyDeletei love this painting mary ann... and thank you for the tarot year formula!
ReplyDeleteHi Maryanne - I have 7 but like sukipoet, I have no tarot deck or book to tell me. But I already know that this year is a rollercoaster ride. I am trying to hold on tight. Yikes!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the painting and the reason behind it.
I am in my Wheel of Fortune year also. yesterday I did a reading for someone who is entering their wheel of fortune. And to think I opened this because the beautiful art work. Blue Sky Dreaming what is your lifetime card? Mine is the Lovers. I have been reading and teaching the tarot for a long time and just recently I started up again in my new location in Eastern Oregon. I am really enjoying talking the language of the Tarot again.
ReplyDeleteHow is a Lovers Year a year of choices (if you know)? Are the choices relationship related or just life choices? I, too am a 6. I do not do well with choices and so I'm a little bummed. Where is the Year of Answers?!
ReplyDeleteI love the colors again in this piece. You and Pablo have such enviable synergy. :-)
Pat, You are so in the Chariot Year. I was told to image myself staying in the center while feeling the reins of the four horses of the Chariot...fun ride!
ReplyDeleteLynne, Thank you, I was just visiting your site!
Katherine, I pick it up and put it aside at different times in my life. I am an 8 and choose the deck with the Stength Card rather than Justice.
ReplyDeleteWheel of Fortune...!
Karen, Sorry about the choice thing this year! ha Google the Lovers Card maybe there is a loop hole! ha
ReplyDeleteI am sorry I am such a klutz but i did 6+19+2009 but what then?
ReplyDeleteJanette, I wasn't clear, add your total which is 2034 : 2+3+4+ 9. According to M.K.Greer you are in you Hermit Year. She says" Your Hermit Year is a year of introspection, you look back at where you've been and forward to where you're going. You might google the Hermet Card and read more! Nice to be a Hermit on some days!
ReplyDeleteWow. I like this. Like Babs, I am a 7 and that is exactly what is going on for me! I am moving on with goals I identified in 2008. Thanks Mary Ann, for this bit of inspiration. As always, I love seeing your art work. I enjoy your colors and learning about the meaning the work has for you, the creator. The four horses are like my 4 goals...
ReplyDeleteBSD thanks for the info. I looked the llth card up on the web and discovered that at one time the 11th card was Strength in the Waite Ryder deck and they later changed it to Justice. I do have a deck at home so hope I remember to get this card out and also read more in the little book.
ReplyDeleteKaren L the lovers card is related to Gemini, the twins, who see both sides of all issues. Because it is the lovers, the card of marriage it is the card of commitment. In the Crowley deck the lovers are married by the Hermit the way shower. The inherent tool in this is that when making a choice you decide on that which feels closest to the heart to be true and make that choice. Once having made the choice the true commitment is to the highest. The decision/choice is now the way shower. So you say to yourself I am making this choice and am acting on it. If it is the right choice nothing will stop it from working, doors will fly open. If it is the wrong choice there is no way it will work and I will be shown in an easy to interpret and graceful way what I need to do. I hope this helps. Until Lovers Card people get this lesson down decision making is rough. Blue Sky hope you are okay with me taking this liberty on your blog.
ReplyDeleteKatherine, Your comment was appreciated...you know your Tarot...thank you.
