A true cure-all for me. I took this photo in late afternoon yesterday. The temperature was low 70's...crazy, I know but it felt so good to smell the fresh ocean air and feel the warm sun on my back as I stood there watching the sailboats turn into our little harbor before the sun set. Most people were packing up with the children still running on the wet sand.
I'm excited about tomorrow. I've promised Pablo waffles, fruit and yogurt...we will be up watching the inaugural at 8a.m.! Years ago I lost heart about politics with the death of Bobby Kennedy. I continued to vote and have strong opinions but felt my generation lost out on fulfilling the dreams we began. For me, Obama is the one. His inauguration begins a time not just of fulfilling my generation's dreams but of creating the unity so needed for all of us. My heart is back in again...so to quote Willow's word...ebullient....I'M EBULLIENT!
Nice photo! Hey can you say more about this? ..."felt my generation lost out on fulfilling the dreams we began. For me, Obama is the one. His inauguration begins a time not just of fulfilling my generation's dreams". Any tangibles you felt were lost that Obama - the one - can resolve for us? I realize this is primarily an art blog so if you don't want to talk polical - now worries. Your passion was such that I was curious to know more.
ReplyDeleteA little bit of good weather in the middle of winter warms our hearts and souls, as well as our faces. Even we have sun, in the mid 40's. I will be joining you, as much as possible, to watch the inauguration, with day job activies working around it. It is a celebration!
ReplyDeleteKaren, Thank you..amazing weather.
ReplyDeleteMy personal experience in my youth was to see the beginnings of dreams realized such as civil rights, and abortion rights to name two. I know Obama will be appointing judges insuring these rights and adding others. I also believe we will be able to solve the health care situation for everyone. I have been disappointed in our polorization in this country and my excitment in Obama has been his way of uniting myself and others with a call to service, a letting go of what separates us and having a spirit of one nation.
Leslie, I think we will all find a way to be in on this celebration!
Blue Sky...I am glad you are feeling renewed and ready for tomorrow! I, like you, am so excited with this new president. He is really spreading calm, too. Washington, DC is so calm and people are being so nice to each other. The same thing happened at the rally I went to...although we waited a long time in the cold with no way to move around, people were fabulous! This country needs that! We have similar ideas about all of this, it seems.
ReplyDeleteThanks BSD! Only about 15 hours to go now!
Oh the memories of Calfornia beaches...my heart's back in, too. Enjoy your early breakfast!
ReplyDeleteI'll be joining you too over here the other side of the pond! What a great day for us all!
ReplyDeleteMary Ann, I share your excitement. Obama is a new hope! Be ebullient!
ReplyDeleteThe beach is a pleasant memory of a sunny day. Love it!
The sea and sand,,truly IS a cure all,,,even if I only relive it from photos right now.
ReplyDeleteMay all your Bluesky Dreaming come true!
Kim, You are at the heart of this excitement! I have spent this morning watching all the events and now watching the ball appearances! Wow, I'm filled with hope.
ReplyDeleteCynthia, I'm so glad we share these hopeful feelings...tomorrow the work begins!
Black and White, It's all good...today was so special to watch...except the part about everyone being so so cold! It gave me shivers to see people without gloves or hats!
Oh Babs, Thank you for your good wishes...just sunshine can be a cure-all!
ReplyDeleteoh a sunny day and the beach - what could be better then that?
ReplyDeleteI finally did it. I started my blog. You've been an inspiration to keep digging in new fields!
ReplyDeletehow beautiful! wonderful image, I miss sunny and warm weather... I guess the world in general is quite hopeful and happy with this change. I am!
ReplyDeleteI feel like Obama's the first real president I have ever had. I'm so glad I'm here to experience all of this hope and goodwill. It's truly incredible.
ReplyDeleteYour photo is gorgeous. I think the sunshine might not be so warm today but the spirit inside is just as glowing. ;-)
Jeane, Our sunny days at the beach ended this morning but that's okay, we had a few days at least!
ReplyDeleteRosie, What a good feeling to know so many are watching and hopeful!
Pat, Great news...I'll be visiting!
Luisa, The idea of change sure feels good, not easy...but change!
Tangobaby, I spent all yesterday with the TV. I cried when I saw him walking that last bit by himself ( I felt like his mom)and then his speech which has depth I couldn't hear the first time. Oh, and the ball with Michelle, I so loved them, watching their sweetness! He is a good man and will be a good president!
ReplyDeleteHi Blue Sky
ReplyDeleteThanks for following my blog - I'm following you, too! I look forward to perusing your blog in more depth!
About Obama, my sister said it best. She said he's more than our president - he is a spiritual leader. It's been a long time since we've had one of those!!!
Enjoy that beach weather! Right now in Maine anything above 15 degrees would feel positively balmy!
I do envy you this wonderful beach and 70 degrees! Your hope and positive forward looking viewpoint is heartening. I do hope the health care situation gets tended to also. It is nice to have someone young and energetic in the White HOuse. be well, Suki
