'Center Heart Safety'

I am an amulet maker in training. Triangle shapes are often used and its a first for me. How reassuring to have a tangible object that promises protection. Often hung in doorways or on tree branches or beloved animals or baby cribs...an ancient and current practice. The shape, knots, tassels, beads, metals and assorted objects are part of the amulet makers work table. I'm planning on 4-5 in order to take on the beauty of this ancient form of prayer.

Kitchen Art

A couple pieces of my kitchen art or art hanging in my kitchen. The first one measures 10"x10" paper, copper leaf, photo, oil pastel and copper wire. The second piece measures 9"x15" paper, silver tape, fork and knife, photos taken in Vienna and CA. Both have been hanging in my kitchen for several years and now time for a change. Also the chili peppers are dusty, the garlic rope is old and the my childhood 40's dishes need a good cleaning. I have just a little wall space and now the green walls will be a shade of yellow so it will be fun adding new things to the walls. I'm getting ahead of myself as they are today removing the old appliances.

I'm still working on my silk purse piece posted August 16th. I did add silver leaf and shiny red stones. I'm seeing an ancient dashboard? Surely one would need a dashboard on one's ancient ship or chariot...surely instruments of star gazing, dials and directional pulls. I'm dreaming again.

Third of the Three Roads

"Yggdrasill Tears" measures 20" x 20" canvas, acrylic, paper collage, stones, copper leaf and metal rings. I've long been interested in Norse mythology and on this third road (exploration) I found the world tree among paint drips and blotches. Layers later I added the stones and it all seemed to represent my need at times to paint stories. I like this "way" of discovering imagery and will continue down this road for awhile. My compass is almost in the center.

On a personal note: My sidebar is featuring the results of my glue gun wreath creation. A tidy shell wreath...I actually like it on the red door and I used blue glass flat marbles to express droplets of water....easy fun!
