First Light

This cloth piece measures 15"x18" and was made especially for Roxanne Evans
Stout's new book "Storytelling With Collage".  Yes, there is a story that goes with this piece as well as lots of beads, embroidery, rust treated cloth, stamping and bits of gold. I have yet to receive my copy of the book so I'm pretty excited and I'm reading great comments on Facebook.
Somewhere around late 2008-2009 I discovered River Garden Studio and the connection began. I especially liked Roxanne's blog because it reflected on her art as well as her garden and her natural surroundings. We have left comments for one another over the years and I have found her words thoughtful, fun and encouraging. It doesn't surprise me that she is a well respected teacher of all things about art....skills and heart and I'm so pleased to be included in this book! Big Blogland Excitement!

Willow of Life at Willow Manor is giving her annual Ball on Oct. 13th here in Blogland. This is a perfect time to dust off your imagination and join in the fun. Remember everything is possible in Blogland. Last year's Ball was great fun and I'm looking forward to the 13th (also Willow's real birthday)!! See you there!
update: I have taken great care in choosing my date: Javier Bardem and this morning the newspapers announced in real time his engagement to Penelope Cruz! Drat!! This really isn't a problem in blog space but I've decided to choose again. So besides the dress, shoes, jewels I'll be choosing a perfect date....one that will fit a navy blue silk Prada tux.!! ha

Studio news: I have four of the seven directions begun on 8" x 8" canvases. Photos will follow. I'm still meditating before studio time and I'll share some writing that has resulted from these meditations. It all seems to be fitting together and I'm jazzed about the new/old direction with my compass. Just starting as I said and Wednesday looks like one of those "all day" days!

Re-Post of the Recent Past

Gold 9
Actually this piece consists of 9 small canvas pieces 4"x4". Each one begins with layers of fabric machine stitched together in a circle of sorts. The fabric choices are varied...old paint rags, satin and cotton to name a few. Most have the addition of stones, some wire and all share paint and gold leafing. My heart was about the many layers and shapes of the human and divine. The imperfect within the beauty of color and gold...all becoming startling divine by connection and support. I like them all together but I have hung them in different ways.
This is such a grand day for me!!! My first ever post. I have plenty to learn and plenty to add but for a first day out, I have such a big grin on my face. I have been thinking and talking about having my own blog for the longest time. I called Gail on my server's list of consultants and she spent an hour and half talking me through and explaining options. I see her as my angel (we share the same birth date) because this old brain is slow and she was so very patient. Well my dear friends, the adventure begins. I'm sure it will evolve in strange and mysterious ways very much like my art and very much like my life...thank you for joining me on this very first day!

This month marks my blogs one year anniversary and I re-posted my first blog to celebrate! I can't tell you how much I have learned this past year and in 12 months I have met some wonderful blogger friends from all over this planet. Exciting, fun conversations, tender revealing sharing posts...this has been a great experience in what has been a not so easy year for me. Blogging has given me such joy! To each and everyone who has stopped by...Thank you so much and please keep coming back!
