Two On The Aisle

Fun Day yesterday...we stopped off at a friend's Open Studio and Pablo bought greeting cards and I bought a small canvas. I'll pick it up in a week, after Open Studio closes.

We both enjoyed "Burn After Reading". Not as good as other Coen Brother's movies such as "Brother Where Art Thou" but the cast was sensational and I enjoyed those m&m"s.

Today was closet cleaning and sorting the summer clothes to my storage area. Three piles, one for keepers, one for consignment and one for Goodwill. It's fun to see at the end of the season what sells on consignment and receive a check too. I'm rarely at the stores but somehow I have managed to collect quite a few items. I admit to some catalog shopping once in awhile.
On the subject of cleaning, I also had the heater checked with new filter, water heater drained ,weatherized the doors and this week I'll have the large bushes and vines cut back. No excuses...studio time is now available!!

  1. I have the closet clean and sort thing on my schedule for later this week. It's an all day project and I've been putting it off. I am looking forward to the end results, though!

  2. Ooh - love M & M w/ peanuts! You sound so very organized. Your mention of clothing and seasonal changes makes me want to share my splurge item for the Fall. Check this faux leather metallic jacket at such an increditble price. I own it and it looks even better in person. You cannot tell it is not real leather and NO odor at all (sometimes these things can smell plastic or chemical like). Super cute and in ALL sizes. I got pewter! Cut and paste this in your browser -

I guess we got off art topic this morning. Ha!

  3. Wow, you've been productive! I actually got my summer clothes sorted and put away too. And in the nick of time. Fall blew in with a blast of chilly rain.

I love the Coen Brothers but haven't seen that one yet.

  4. Hey, there you are an adult in the sidebar! Not at all how I imagined you. good for you for clearing out the old or no longer worn. When I left my 20 year rental I cleared out a lot of clothes, many funky items found at thrift stores and years worth of collected vintage clothes. Currently my clothes a quite minimal as i live in one tiny room (besides my studio). Up here there are few and rather poor thrift stores so no place to buy new clothes.

Thanks for the tip on the movie. And so wonderful you found a painting you wanted and Pablo the cards.

I'm thinking "Pablo" is a psuedonym as what are the chances you would meet someone really named Pablo.

  5. Willow, Twice a year isn't bad for a clothing exchange. Think how wonderful to find those warm sweaters and scarves!

Karen, Yes, I found the jacket and I do like it. Pewter is perfect, the collar has nice detail, price is good and the designer is modeling it herself...great! It will be light weight enough to fit work and evening. The art of dressing, creating your style, your vision expressed in color texture, line...oh it's art alright!

  6. Suki, You are so right about Pablo not being Pablo! Early in our romance I named him after Pablo Neruda and he likes being Pablo. I have used the name Marnya in my writing so we are Pablo and Marnya some of the time. Marnya being more exotic than Mary Ann and missing only one n.
My sister bought all her clothes from vintage and thrift stores and always looked wonderful...I didn't get that gene nor did I ever develop an eye for possiblities. Instead I get attached to outfits and just wear them out...plus everything I own has a spot of paint somewhere?!

  7. San, I love the Coen Brothers too...do you happen to know the name of the movie with Jeff Bridges...it was an early movie by the brothers and John Goodman was also a cast member???
    Mary Ann
