Pool Closing

Our neighborhood pool is closing Friday with a BBQ lunch...should be fun. The photo is too dark but the chairs have brightly colored striped cushions and the umbrellas behind the camera are lime green. There was plenty of bickering but the board finally spent the money (our money)on these nice improvements and it's been resort like to go to the the pool this summer. We have a spa that stays open all year but around December it takes more courage than I have to go up there in my robe and flip flops...I guess once in and under the water but OH getting there! We don't have the fall color, just the lifeguard shacks are put away and the roller coaster is closed on weekdays...that is how we know fall is here! ha The pool reopens in April...fog or no fog!

  1. Ooh - its almost like a birthday BBQ for you! It really looks like a lovely and comfortable place to relax. I'm so glad you have it so close to your home.

  2. Lovely pool. I like your signs of winter much better than my signs of winter.

On your previous post when I said romantic I wasnt thinking about the tent idea, I know I'd never really want to live in a tent. I dont even like to camp out. I was thinking of your proclivity to rename your DH Pablo and yourself too.

I found "japan" on a CD I have of Billy Collins reading his poems. Wld have to listen to it again to get the gist though as I was distracted. It's toward the end of the CD so I have to click forward about 32 times to reach the one poem. Take care and stay warm during your southern? California winter.

Well, I know you can get snow. I was in Temecula one November at Dorland Art Colony, do you know it?? There was a dusting of snow. Brrr.

  3. Karen, The pool is nice...they keep it around 86' so floating is my perfect activity! I like it when I am alone and have the pool all to myself...I'm not very chatty.
How are the projects coming along?

  4. Suki, Santa Cruz is about 75 miles south of San Francisco on the Monterey Bay. A tourist town errr..city. We have an interesting mix of residents, surfer dudes, creative art population, university crowd, Silcon Valley transplants and large population of farm workers...(East of Eden fame, Salinas Valley) It's a friendly place.
I apologize for my clumsy attempt at using "tent" as a metaphor for wishing you a place, a home of your own. I am also not a camper.
I just read that Dorland Art Colony suffered damage from the recent wild fires...they hope to rebuild.

  6. Jeane, Yes, Santa Cruz is beautiful. Redwoods and ocean...pretty wonderful. I lived in the central valley of California for years and dreamed of moving here....1995 it happened and I've been grateful everyday!

  7. Hey - the pool is closing on some pretty amazing weather. Great day for a BBQ - bring the sunscreen! Ha.
Projects...I'm so easily distracted. I'm prewashing some fabric to get ready for a couple things. I seem to be so drawn to interesting birds for some reason - birds on fabric, bird pins, birds on my waterfall/pond outback. Maybe I was intended to have wings!
