13"x14", cloth treated with Indigo paint or treated with Indigo and rust combination, beads, hand stitching and machine free stitching.
The colors in this photo seem brighter, not as true as the actual piece which has softer tones. The design element is from a mosaic floor discovered at the ruins of Masada Israel. As I added stitches, the rectangle shape seemed to become more woven as in a carpet and so I followed the lead with this title. The imagined stark desert sunlight surrounded by an edge of Indigo sky still holds me to these pieces of cloth. I have just a small pile of this cloth left but I think enough to make one more Indigo dream.

Is the color more like the darker blue in Indigo Sky, your 19 October post? That will make the art even more beautiful. I love what you make, with only a few materials and techiques and I always love to read the deeper meaning of your art!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Actually the indigo is rather pale on this one...not as dark as the one you refer to. I feel especially challenged when I limit my materials and techniques and always my heart has to be in on the art making!
DeleteThat's very lovely. Great fabrics, great composition, great stitching! I'll reply to your email tomorrow. Just online for a bit this morning, before going into Eureka for my monthly trek. Do you know Jan Sturtevant, lives in Aptos? She and I have been friends since the late 1980s. She's a quilter, more traditional in orientation, also does quilted garments. I might've asked you tomorrow in my email, but maybe I wouldn't have remembered!! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie, I like the square format and love rows of things, whether they be stitches or words or shapes.
DeleteI visited the Pajaro Valley Quilt Guild once and it was very organized. There were sales of books and materials, guest speakers but not much time for meeting new people or maybe I didn't stay long enough. I visited the group because they had a speaker discussing beadwork but sadly the person cancelled last minute so I didn't stay. Does your friend have a blog or website or Facebook?
Mary Ann, this reminds me of waves kissing sand on the beach... just stunning, would so love to touch...
ReplyDeleteCaterina, Thanks so much...I think it's sold. Working on my last indigo/rust (for now) here at the work table...!
