Circle of Return 002

17"x19", hand stamped cloth, variety of painted cotton, beads, both hand and machine stitching.

This piece is a step away from the 'gate imagery' of this series and instead a bridge was used as my metaphor. The green cloth was stamped with my own cut stamp as well as the dark sky star section was stamped with my hand cut stamp. The beads were just plain fun to sew!
A point of wisdom from a friend was that as we age we become more like who we really are ...In my life I've felt I've been on a journey, good, bad and even wonderful only to return as in full circle. I feel so much has dropped away and I'm more in touch with my truer self and it feels good ... like a homecoming. So the title "Circle of Return" seems perfect.

  3. Wow- I think this is my favorite in the series so far! Beautiful colors, the peaceful water and islands, and that gorgeous bridge... Bridges and gates are both passages/portals to a another place or time, and it seems that whatever portal you're presently going through leads to somewhere so lovely...

    1. Sharmon, Thank you ... I like bridges having lived in CA with beautiful bridges all around. I especially remember loving bridges in the Yosemite Valley ...river rocks! On a spiritual level bridges speak of crossing over...a beautiful thing!

  4. well, the color is wonderful and so serene, and the beading is awesome, and I think the bridge can be viewed as a gate if one is on a boat passing thru... :)

    1. Caterina, I like your take on the bridge being viewed as a gate. I've used bridges as a metaphor for crossing over but this also works as an entrance ... thank you!
