"Flight Home"

7"x9" cotton fabric, machine stitching, crystal beads, plaster of paris, glass fragments, silver string, painted feathers. Flight Home was not without its trials. I broke two pieces of the plaster and spilled glaze all over the fabric losing the lavender stitching. One result leads to another and if I keep my disappointment and judgement out of the way...I finally arrive where I need to be. Feathers were from those craft colorful feathers and I acrylic sprayed them this ochre shade. It took days to come to terms with this piece but now I smile.
High Holidays are fast approaching and time to look back and forward (old and new year). Our last neighborhood pool party this Monday. Planning on some indigo kit exploration...its all good this Autumn Bliss!

    1. Gail, Thank you...as I said it took time for me to be okay with this one. The feathers in the craft bags are awfully bright...no choice!

  2. Pang! This work speaks to me, probably mosttly by the contrasting beads and the colours. Lovely!

    1. Caterina, Always welcome here and thanks for the good words. Isn't it funny how things come together? Even an unwanted spill leads to a more perfect finish?!!

  4. What a beautiful piece. Like a dream catcher in its own way, or a nest. Hope you have a good weekend. Hugs.

  5. Thanks Connie, I think its the feathers that give it the dream catcher look...except in as you say its own way! Lost some really pretty lavender threads but gained some nice depth to the glass center...win and lose.

  6. Saw this on facebook, but wanted to see a larger version.... I love the beads and stitching on these amulet pieces - would love to see them all together as a group!

  7. Thank you Sharmon. I have framed one in a shadow box black frame and will be looking for two more shadow box frames. Big size difference and I don't see them as showing compatible. My last series, inspired by "Eyes Remade for Wonder) was great shown together. I sent off a photo sheet to the author and received a beautiful, beautiful message. Life can be so so good!
